Using Diagnostic Data

Overview

Analyzing data and planning next steps for instruction are more important than ever at the midpoint of the school year. Recognizing growth, progress toward goals, and areas for improvement closes gaps and increases student achievement. Use the tips below to analyze your data after the second Diagnostic so you can adjust instruction to meet your students’ needs.

Schedule Time

Dedicating time to review data strengthens analysis and enhances understanding of next steps for students. Make sure you carve out time to look at, analyze, and discuss data. If you are a coach or a leader, make sure your team has time to analyze data and plan.

Analyze, Plan, and Collaborate

Review student growth using the Diagnostic Growth reports. Frame analysis around questions so you can make meaning of the data and determine actionable next steps. Leaders should evaluate the school’s progress toward goals and make programmatic and instructional adjustments as necessary. Use the following resources to analyze and collaborate:

Sharing data with students and families is a crucial part of engaging students in their learning.
