Create a Lesson Tracking Poster to Keep Students Engaged

Suzette Martin was struggling with student engagement during i-Ready lessons. Her solution was to create a poster in the front of the room to track passed lessons. When students completed three lessons in a row, Suzette rewarded them with a soft drink. “Since my students are the lowest of the low academically, they feel pretty defeated when it comes to math. I was really struggling with them putting forth any effort. The kids were just 'clicking' through the lessons. Then, I decided to dangle a carrot in front of them. I had a poster made to track their lessons passed. When they pass three lessons IN A ROW, they earn a soft drink. This was no easy feat for any of them at first, but they have worked hard, and overall, it has been very successful!”
