Create a Yearlong i-Ready Challenge for Students

Mary Damiani, a teacher in Arizona, challenged her students to an i-Ready contest and tracked their usage over the course of the year. She tracked student progress on a chart in the front of the room every week. “I challenged my students to meet a goal of 125 points by the end of the year (we started i-Ready in December). I awarded a point for every 15 minutes of lessons completed (passed lessons). I also gave an extra point for 100% lessons. In addition, I awarded points for every 15 minutes on growth monitoring and Diagnostic tests as well as incentive points for increased scores.” Her students’ final reward was to make a water bottle rocket and launch it together during the last week of school.
