Create an i-Ready March Madness Competition
An educator in North Carolina (Instagram handle: fantastically_fourth_grade) created an i-Ready March Madness tournament in her fourth-grade classroom. She explains, "My school uses i-Ready, which I absolutely love. I decided to create an i‑Ready March Madness bracket where my students compete against one another each week to see who passes the most math lessons. One thing I love about i‑Ready is that it shows how many lessons the student actually passes, and the lessons fit the individual student's needs. When I started this competition, I sent a letter home to parents explaining this challenge and how their child could practice at home to pass additional lessons for the March Madness Competition. I know my students LOVE competition, and they absolutely loved this i‑Ready competition. Here are the steps to creating the March Madness display:
- Use colored masking tape to create the bracket.
- Print, cut, and laminate letters for the heading.
- Print out students' names and laminate them to easily be able to tape and move on the brackets.
- Check the Classroom Usage report to track the number of lessons passed.
- Update the board weekly!
The students who made it to the 'Final Four' received paper medals and a special treat. My students truly loved this i-Ready March Madness Competition!"
