Angela Forino, a third grade teacher in Ohio, uses digital badges to gamify learning. Students in her class collect digital i-Ready badges on a Google slide and earn badges based on how many lessons they pass. Students can get badges for passing 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 i-Ready lessons. Students show their earned badges by signing a “Club” poster. Students who earn each badge also receive a special incentive from Angela. Currently, Angela’s students are working on earning the i-Ready 20 badge and a mini-dance party. Angela’s fourth grade students are really motivated to earn the digital badges. This is a a great way to increase motivation and engagement!
