She explains, "Got a super rad idea from Ms. Shane Saeed, a fourth grade teacher in Massachusetts, to do a scrap paper raffle! Sometimes when my students take an online assessment, they tend to forget their pen and paper strategies to help them solve! So I told students if they used scrap paper, they enter it in our raffle. THEY ATE IT UP! This was the best solution I've ever seen to get the students motivated to use their strategies while testing online! I had them write their names on the paper and set the expectation of what showing their work looks like to avoid doodles. They put their papers in the basket."
