Get Creative and Involve Your Entire Staff in Celebrating i-Ready Success as a School Campus

Tina Isaacs, assistant principal of Sunrise Elementary School in Florida, shares, “Celebrating i-Ready success is important. Students want to be recognized for their individual growth and success, and teachers want to be celebrated, too. Each week, our literacy coach calculates the pass and usage rate for each teacher. On the morning news each Wednesday, we announce the top class in Reading and the top class in Math for each grade level. We call these classes 'Top Turtles' because we are the Sunrise Sea Turtles. Some classes achieve the award for Reading and Math. We call these classes 'Double Dippers' for the week. After the morning news, our admin team (i.e., principal, assistant principal, and literacy coach) visits each classroom to present their certificates. We wear our i-Ready Class of the Week hats and t-shirts. We usually bring pom-poms for cheering, too. We have a special i‑Ready song we sing together with the students, and they LOVE this! We are a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports school, so students also receive a special charm to use at our school store if they meet a certain criterion for passing i‑Ready tests. They also receive tickets to enter a monthly drawing to be chosen to participate in our i-Ready monthly challenge—October was Mummy Wrapping and November is Turkey Bowling. We love our i-Ready celebrations. This is part of our school improvement plan, and these steps greatly contribute to our success.” Consider using some of these impactful ideas to encourage the entire school campus to be engaged and excited for student success.
