Highlight High-Growth Classrooms with an “i-Ready Champs” Banner
A school in North Carolina celebrates the class with the most i-Ready progress each month by hanging an i-Ready flag outside the classroom. Principal Todd Henderson says, “We give points for having 100% of your class complete at least 45 minutes on i-Ready, growth from beginning-of-year to mid-year Diagnostic, and for growth in Growth Monitoring assessments.” In March, Mr. Henderson’s school decided to use a “March Madness” scoreboard to display the classes’ progress. “The winning class gets an i-Ready character outside the door, a fancy garden flag to hang for the month, extra recess, and the teacher gets a surprise for winning. All of that has really made our growth climb. The teachers are loving it because they are seeing growth. They are already asking about i-Ready reading. I told them to hold on a bit.” Mr. Henderson’s school is making celebrating i-Ready student progress a part of their school’s culture, and teachers and students are loving it!
