Increase Student Commitment with an i‑Ready Pledge Wall

By hanging a bulletin board in the lunchroom at his school, Shawn Kivley was able to prepare students to try their best on the Diagnostic. Shawn’s poster reads, “I pledge to do my best on this last i-Ready test!” Students who will be taking the Diagnostic sign their names as a pledge to try their hardest! Shawn pasted an inspirational poem on the board to motivate the students and get them excited to “show what they know.” Shawn writes, “I'm an intervention teacher at our school. We noticed a dip in a lot of our upper-grade students during the second of the three Diagnostics we give. We, my administrator and I, decided we needed an incentive. I created a big poster for our lunchroom where each student was able to sign, “committing” to do his/her best on the last Diagnostic.”
