Level Up with i-Ready

Audra Young, a Grade 4 teacher in Florida, uses student interest to engage her students. “I love video games, and so do my students,” she said. “We all strive to level up, which is why I used video game controllers as an incentive. My students are given small video game controllers when they complete each i-Ready lesson. They write their score and initials—only scores 80% or better are written on a controller. The first group to fill the jar with controllers wins free time and a pizza party. Decorating is appreciated (it is prettier). My students are working during recess so they can win! I have used i-Ready for nine years, and this is the first incentive the students were fighting for.” Consider using student interests and finding what motivates them to celebrate in a fun way!
