Motivate Students with a Fun Classroom Competition
Wetzel County Schools held a five-week i-Ready competition with their fourth grade classes. Each of the four classes could score a total of 100 points per week. They averaged the percentage of students who met the required 45 minutes and the percentage of lessons passed by that class. Every Monday, the scores were computed, and a bar graph was made out of colored duct tape. Every week, the color of the duct tape changed so they could see each week's gains. The homeroom with the highest score at the end of the five weeks won a class party. These students ended up scoring the highest in the county on their general summative assessment at the end of the year. They worked very hard to increase their i-Ready data for the classroom competition!
Hold your own i-Ready competition using your school’s i-Ready goals, and track class data using your own tracker or one of our i-Ready class trackers here.
