Prepare for the i-Ready Diagnostic with a Fun “Call and Response” Activity

Senior PD Specialist Craig McJunkin created a resource to help students understand the i-Ready Diagnostic's structure to get good data. Before each Diagnostic, educators can use this resource to explain that students will get about 50% of questions correct and about 50% of questions incorrect. Educators will introduce three statements to their students to help them understand how to answer questions and try their best on the i-Ready Diagnostic. They will choose how to make the three statements into a call and response activity (e.g., educator reads statements aloud, educator and students chant statements together, educator reads a portion and then students chant a portion of the statements, etc.). This activity teaches students how to answer questions and creates excitement around taking the i-Ready Diagnostic! Consider using this activity to prepare students for taking the Diagnostic at home by trying this over your school's choice of video chatting software.
