Set Specific i-Ready Goals to Finish the Year

Suzette Martin, a teacher in Florida, sets goals with her students. She explains, "After the Diagnostic, my students and I sit down and look at data. We then set specific goals based on their deficits. After the second Diagnostic, most are on or nearing grade level, so we get very specific as to which standards we want to master. Those standards are put onto a card and posted with the students' sign-in cards for all to see. As they master a standard, we discuss it and they proudly cross it off their "I will" list. Every little thing that we can do to reinforce that the students are 'getting it,' we do! Confidence boosters are of the utmost importance to students who have struggled for what seems to them to be forever. This is one way that we close out the year soaring!"
