Use Logs and Share What Students Learn
Saandra Stabler, a sixth grade teacher, has her students fill out a monitoring sheet when they are working on i-Ready Online Instruction lessons. After i-Ready time is over, Saandra's students share out what they learned that day. She explains, "While my students log in to i-Ready, they fill out a monitoring sheet. The sheet contains a space for them to write their lesson objective, a space to rate their level of focus, and a space to write their progress. I believe this motivates them to do their best during their allotted time. After the i-Ready time is up, I randomly call on students to tell us their lesson objective and to teach us what they learned during their session. Students with the same lesson feel validated, and students who are not at the same level learn something new in addition to their lesson. I find it to be a great teachable moment for all of us."
